I was born and raised in Canada, but I have lived in the United States for about 15 years. I write novels, plays, poetry, and essays; I’ve also written an award-winning picture book called Bird. That’s hilarious, Evelyn! It’s interesting how I have to wear the glasses to be seen as an intellectual…do you get more respect when you wear yours?

- I think so because it makes me look more mature. Too often I am mistaken for being younger than I am.
